Hello Art Lovers,

Dave is packing up his bags and cleaning his brushes for a art packed week in Eugene, OR at DIVA. Dave has spent the past few months preparing his next masterpiece and it is going to be amazing. For those of you in the Northwest I highly recommend going to the show that will be up through the end of December. Below is a small excerpt from DIVA.

David Teng Olsen’s recent work is made up of colorful, stream-of-consciousness drawings that are done with gel pens and gouache on wood, paper and panel. Although inspired by years of working as a scientific illustrator, all of the drawings were begun without any specific representational idea, so as to emphasize a responsive approach to drawing, and executed using a limited mark-making vocabulary. They are then scanned into a computer, reconsidered, and executed as a grand-scale environment. The end result is a space that evokes feelings of sentimentality for the activities and ephemera of childhood—puzzles, video games, stickers, and doodling—yet is, at the same time, distorted and strange enough to be unfamiliar and new.

Hello all,

Long time no action. Well that is all about to change here very soon. IGLOO has decided to let Gimme Baby Robots back into their doors and we are very grateful for the chance. So Portland here we come again. I will post more about the times and the info as it comes. I would also like to add that Siamesebirds is also having an opening in Seattle on July 31 at the 2308 Gallery in Belltown. We are going to make the most amazing interior installation that Seattle has ever seen. Or you money back. There will also be pieces by Todd and I that you can take home to your friends and family. Let me not forget to mention drinks, music and all around good times. So please come show some love, I hardly make it out west and Todd and I are in need of love. Well that is all I have for you now. I will update this blog much more often now that the art season is back in action.
